Creativity Activities at Remuera Rise
Creativity knew no bounds at Remuera Rise during lockdown. The above artwork was created by a group of residents, who gifted it to the staff in appreciation of their help.
Meanwhile, the Remuera Rise Knitting Club has provided handcrafted knitted goods and high-end pre-loved garments to a range of charities, including: the Barnardos charity for Kiwi kids, the Middlemore Foundation’s Wool Programme for premature babies, the Anglican Trust for Women and Children, Women’s Refuge, and The Salvation Army.
For the past three years, the Knitting Club has provided handcrafted knitting for refugees in Auckland. Fahima, pictured below, came to collect the knitting and to chat with the residents when restrictions eased. Some wonderful stories have been shared over cups of tea and coffee, forming a meaningful friendship.
